Tehran is prepared to reinitiate nuclear negotiations with the United States as long as it is treated with "dignity" and "honor", Tehran's top diplomat has stated.

The Iranian diplomat declared exclusively dialogue was effective, and disclosed recent overtures had come from mediators to restart talks with the US government. He claimed Iran had zero unreported enrichment locations, and Tehran had not yet reached a point to allow the UN nuclear inspectorate to access struck enrichment centers for safety concerns.

Walking a Difficult Route

The foreign minister is navigating a challenging route since Iran wishes not to be seen to be operating from a position of disadvantage, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had come out more resilient defensively and emotionally from the coordinated strike on its nuclear sites in June.

He was talking at a defense forum in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "an absolute privilege to refine atomic fuel within its borders that it will always maintain" – the primary cause of the impasse in the earlier negotiations.

Prior Negotiations Abruptly Terminated

The earlier sessions of talks between the US and Iran were ended suddenly and bitter conclusion on 12 June when Israel, with American backing, attacked Tehran's atomic facilities in a fortnight-long engagement that concluded with Donald Trump declaring the locations had been eliminated. Following this, European countries employed their privilege to reimpose global restrictions, but Iran asserts they have not had a major impact.

Ideal Resolution Proposed

Tehran representatives stated they felt they had achieved a "ideal resolution" to the nuclear fuel concern in prior discussions, when it was decided an domestic cooperative with US participation could refine atomic fuel. Each party would have been able to assert triumph since home-based processing would have persisted and the US could be certain that Iran's nuclear programme was entirely non-military.

It had not been agreed in the discussions that American atomic experts could operate within Iranian territory, but that was a natural consequence of the cooperative offer. Present Position

Diplomatic Standpoint

In his speech to the conference, intended to depict the US as a hegemonic power that abuses the concept of worldwide standards, the foreign minister stated the two-week conflict revealed the dispute could not be ended by armed force. He said the assaults started with a Washington's ultimatum for an unconditional Iranian surrender and ended with an absolute demand for a truce.

Araghchi declared: "It was not Iran that had abandoned dialogue; it was the United States and the western countries that had always sought to impose their desires during the negotiations. Negotiations can still be active and continues the ultimate answer to settle conflicts, but its requirements, regulations and tenets must be followed."
